General Orders of the Newark Police Division (NPD), issued under the authority of the Public Safety Director, set forth policies and procedures of the NPD. These policies and procedures exist to maintain professionalism and encompass the NPD's commitment to strengthen community partnerships, engage constructively with the community, ensure collaborative problem solving, and increase community confidence in the Division. The NPD collaborates with the Department of Justice, the Independent Monitor, and the community to develop and adopt new policies in response to mandates in the Consent Decree.
